TELL US ABOUT YOUR SPECIAL DAY…

Our wedding ceremony was at Ostuni Town Hall and our reception was at Masseria Moroseta, which is about a 10 minute drive outside of Ostuni.

Ostuni is located in the Puglia region of southern Italy. We absolutely love Puglia and we wanted to give our friends and family the opportunity to experience this beautiful region.

It was important to us to get legally married on our wedding day (rather than doing the formalities at home in Brisbane and having a symbolic ceremony in Italy). There are limited locations in which a legal wedding can take place in Italy, but luckily for us Ostuni town hall is gorgeous! After our ceremony in the town hall, we had spritzes in the town square then transported everyone to the reception in Apes, which was so much fun!

We chose Masseria Moroseta because it encompasses everything we love about the region – beautiful architecture, good food (most of which is grown on the property) and good wine!

We wanted our wedding to be as simple, fun and as ‘us’ as possible. We didn’t want to do anything just because we felt we should / tradition required it. The setting was so beautiful that we didn’t need to do too much in respect of styling – we just kept the florals simple with white peonies, roses and olive leaves and lots of candles.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE Cara Gown?

When I started dress shopping, I had a few friends send me the Cara gown and tell me that they thought it would suit me. Initially I thought I would go with something more traditional, but all of the dresses I tried on didn’t feel like me. When I tried the Cara gown on it was so comfortable and flattering, I immediately knew it was the one!

WHAT DID YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR GOWN?

The gorgeous material – it felt so luxurious to wear. I also love that it’s casual while still being elegant, and that it made me feel comfortable and like myself on the big day.

WHERE DID YOU PURCHASE YOUR PREA JAMES LOOK?

From the lovely Sarah at Sphere Bridal in Maroochydore.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL DETAILS ABOUT YOUR WEDDING THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?

We hired the entire reception venue for three nights and filled it with close friends and family, many of whom are based in the UK. It was so special being able to spend that time with friends and family who we hadn’t been able to see during the pandemic.

My husband and I enjoyed an Americano on the rooftop before the ceremony. It was such a good opportunity to sit back and really soak in the day before things got too busy (and Masseria Moroseta make the best Americanos ever!).

For aperitivo before the reception dinner, Masseria Moroseta organised for some local producers to set up cheese and cured meat stations. The cheese station included fresh mozzarella which they were tying into knots just before serving. It was heaven!

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR BRIDES TO BE?

It is so easy to get wrapped up in all the things that you ‘should’ do for your wedding day, and these things can very easily take away from the joy of planning for and executing the day.

Before we started planning, my husband and I sat down and wrote what we wanted the day to feel like. We wanted it to feel relaxed, to be present, spend quality time with our guests and to feel like it was all a bit of an adventure!

We kept coming back to what we had written down throughout the planning process and it really helped us to stay focussed on what was important. It meant that we prioritised budget for things like the fun Ape transport from the ceremony to the reception, had no seating plan to keep things casual for dinner, and just had a few friends do speeches at the reception.

Photographer: Yann Audic – Lifestories Photography.

Yann is based in Paris and is such an easy going, cool guy. We loved hanging out with him on our wedding day and were absolutely blown away with the pictures he produced!!

My hair was done by Vittorio from Fravi Hair Salon in Bari.

Wedding Co-ordinator: Alice from Italian Style Weddings. She was incredible and went above and beyond to make sure the day went smoothly.
